To my Sisters & Brothers of the community and Potential Partners:
The importance of ‘Getting Involved’ with T.G.M.F.F. is for the sole purpose of educating & building our community. The primary focus points to help me achieve this vision will be to inspire & to become inspired, motivate, and encourage men, women and children of all ages in our communities. Helping people prepare for a positive life and a brighter future by teaching that self awareness, self respect and respect for others through education, training, team work and planning. Anyone can rise above their hardship. What it will take to accomplish this is:
· Financial help.
How important the ‘Youth’ are to me begins during a time when I didn’t give much attention to the concept. It’s hard to explain in detail, but I can tell you openly that having this concern was “Not” my primary mission in life. Like many of the unconscious minded, I felt as though if it didn’t have anything to do with me or my needs then it wasn’t a factor. If we choose to be honest with ourselves, we all have been in that predicament in our lives. It wasn’t about how much better we felt we were; or how insignificant we felt they were, but it was more of how ignorant the society can become when it comes to the need of others.
I remember when we had a structured, hard working, aware community that either was familiar with or supported each other. I remember when the postman somehow knew you by first name. I remember when the neighbors from four square blocks away either knew your parents or they were associated with your extended family members. I remember when the corner grocery store owners would make it a habit of watching us in the streets; or when we visited there places of business, to reach out the parents and ask if it was alright for us to help them stack some shelves or participate in helping them with their fruit trucks for extra pocket money. I remember when our communities worked fervently together, in order to keep us from travelling down the wrong paths. That was when it was labeled “The Village Concept” and each one extended a helping hand to teach one another.
I also remember when that concept began to fade from existence. It was only by the grace of God that the vision was brought back to life in my heart. For whatever reason; I will never know, but I began to ask myself, “What can I possibly do to bring that necessity back to the children of today?” I am here to tell you that it begins with us. It’s our responsibility now! The fact is we have the tools embedded within us to reshape the negative deficit in our children’s mindset and encourage them back to the path of positive outcomes. WE HAVE TO PUT OUR BEST FOOT FORWARD AND STAY DILIGENT IN DONG SO! Look to what inspires them most! Reeducate ourselves to their terminologies of slang and that they choose to communicate amongst one another! Establish our Faith that our mission can prosper!
How important it is to educate one another will help the community learn how to self sufficiently raise themselves out of the current and ever growing poverty level. Being refreshed in areas; that the community may already have a pre-educated grasp of, gives the people a solid vision of what direction their lives are headed and how to ascertain further assistance. GET INVOLVED!
How ‘Important’ it is to have ‘Resources’ available for the community is obvious. Having access to resources will empower each individual (and families) in areas that seemed distant and difficult for them to find in urban society’s everyday life. Here at T.G.M.F.F.; in our “Resource Center”, we work off of compassion and understanding by listening to those seeking assistance with a non-judgmental attitude. GET INVOLVED!
DEFEATING HUNGER & POVERTY
The Great Mrs. Fortune Foundation had to make Defeating Hunger & Poverty a Primary Goals, We need food to live; food is essential to living no matter where you go. What we take into our bodies provides all of the necessary nutrients that every human being requires. The primary goal is simple:
1. Providing families with what they need to take the strain off of the choice between food or other household bills.
2. No child in this world should have to suffer from starvation. We take the time to see them through these struggles with a passion.
3. Encourage families to believe that they are not alone in times of crisis and continue to press forward in the fight to Defeat Hunger & Poverty.
